PUERTO PRINSESA TRIP DAY2

We started the day very early. Our breakfast was served as early as 530 am and it was still dark outside when we took our first meal for the day.

breakfast of the day!!!!

We were all ready (isn't it obvious, that we are just so excited?) when the van arrived. We were told that there is a coaster waiting for us and we will be with other groups. We didn't like the idea at first but that was the practice I guess in Puerto Prinsesa ( so they can probably offer a lower package tour ). We didn't think about it so much so we can enjoy the trip,we didn't want to ruin the day. When we arrived at the place where the coaster is waiting the front seats were already taken,so we seated at the back. We still had to fetch another 2 guests from other hotel. So another tip, ask your travel agency if you will be traveling with any groups, which I did not do.Travel time in going to Sabang Port in going to the Underground River took us 2 hours. But along the way you will enjoy the scenery plus the tourist guide really knows his job. At the port, we waited for about 15-20 minutes before we boarded the boat in going to Subterranean River. But I salute the tourism there because everything was organized. The boats leave the port by numbers so as not to overcrowd the place. They were also very strict in wearing the life vests. The port would you believe is so clean..They are also strict as to the number of passenger each boat has to carry, only 6 in each boat so 1 of us had to join another group.

boarding time!!!
finally ,we set foot!!!
I really would not like to include the not - so -good moments during this trip but I have to so other readers will not experience the same thing. Asking one from our group to join another group since 6 persons will only be allowed, that's ok with us if it is for our safety. But going inside the underground river, one of our companion has to be with another group again, we already complained. Didn't they think that we went there as a group? I don't think it is right and fair. Good enough that they gave in to our wish that we be on the same boat. And another thing, there is a tendency that they will ask the guests to be in a hurry because some other people in the group are already waiting. But of course,we didn't follow (kami pa?)hahaha..Before you reach the entry point to the underground river, there will be a brief intro and I really dont know what it was all about since I didn't listen (as hard - headed as we are, we didn't pay so much attention)..as long as we have our life vests on..hahaha!!You will pass through a forest - like area, just follow the trail you wont get lost.
with life vests and helmets ON!!!
see?picture picture muna!!!

We are now ready to get inside the underground river!!!

the ENTRANCE !!

As soon as we are properly seated on our boat in getting inside the underground river, our boatman started to paddle. He introduced his name first (sorry Kuya) then made some opening statements about the ONE of the SEVEN WONDERS of NATURE. He made some reminders and a lot of jokes. We didn't pay much attention to his jokes because we were all so engrossed and just wanted to focus on what we see. There's a not so good smell inside and according to him those were poohsss of the bats. The boats occupied two lanes only, one going in and the other one going out. The boats going in will take the right side and the boat going out will take the left side.  We asked the boatman how deep the river is, he said 10 ft, so he reminded us to sit still and minimize big movements. He asked one of the group to hold the flashlight and be attentive to him since he will direct you where to focus the light. As soon as you enter the cave, you can already see stalactites with different forms. He made a story out of these figures. What really mesmerized me during the trip was the "cathedral part"..OH WOW!!really WOW!!!!But be sure to keep your mouth close and no head high because something might get in your mouth, you know what i mean?I forgot to ask how high is the "ceiling" or I just did not listen...As if you are really inside a church, its looks like a dome and what is amazing there are different "church - related figures" like the last supper, 3 kings, Virgin Mary, etc. You really should see it for yourself. I will be lost of words to describe everything that I saw there. The underground navigation is about 1.2 km and took about less than an hour.Though the underground river is about 8km,for you to be able to navigate the remaining kilometers you need to get a permit from the city and they said that they only allow biologists an other related field of study or you are a journalist.
TAMILOK
adobong chicken + grilled tuna + adobong kangkon + grilled pork
After that, we were brought to Taraw Lodge for our lunch buffet which is included in the package.I really enjoyed the foods served in Taraw Vista Lodge most especially the chicken adobo, its so yummy!!We ordered TAMILOK (Php 100) (exotic food in Palawan and believed to be an aphrodisiac food ). I bravely tasted it, as the saying goes when you're in Rome do what the Romans do!It is somewhat similar to oyster except that it is long and chewy. After our lunch we were told by our guide to walk straight because that is where the coaster is waiting. As we walk, we passed through so many resorts and one of these is Sheridan Nature Spa www.sheridanbeachresort.com. This is a 5-star hotel and said to be one of the most expensive place here.
Behind us is a BIG pool, they're having an aquatherapy at that time!!
We also had some picture taking as we headed to the city, we dropped by at the Ugong Rock Adeventures. They have a zipline (P200.00) and exploration of cave but decided not to get into it since we had experience the longest zipline in Bukidnon already. We just tried their halo halo for only P25.00.

i dunno what do we get here?

I fell asleep on our way back to the hotel. I am just so glad that were the first group to be dropped at our hotel. The tour ended at around 4 pm so we still have time to rest before having our dinner in KaLui Restaurant (www.kaluirestaurant.com/)

On the very first day we arrived in RAQ I already asked the hotel front desk to book us for the following day's dinner cause this place is always full. We booked for 630pm just in time for our dinner because the second  slot will be at 830pm which I think is a little bit too late. The place is just 5 -10 minutes away and along Rizal St. which is the main road of the city and it is near Kabaluch. As you enter the restaurant, you have to take off your shoes /slippers. This place is sooooo clean!!!
the entrance!!

Some of the spots are Japanese - inspired, a low table and sit on the round native chair. Though, I noticed that there were a lot of mosquitoes but they provide a fan to shoooo them away!!The foods and drinks are just so great!!One of the best restaurant I really really enjoy the food. We took the Menu of the Day that costs P375.00 good for 2 persons. The waiter suggested that we should just place 3 orders of that and an additional rice cause that will be enough for us.And so we did, thanks to him!!!
Enjoying the foods!!!yum yum yum!!!

PUERTO PRINSESA TRIP DAY1

As I was browsing the net and looking for a seat sale I came across a cheap fare going to Puerto Prinsesa and asked my travel buddies if they want to experience PALAWAN,and they all agreed. So, we booked our flight (June 7- 10, 2012) via airphilexpress.com.

check - in

We left a gloomy Manila at around 3:55pm. On our way, I was praying to give us a good weather in Puerto Prinsesa. Exactly 1 hour and 10 minutes we landed at Puerto Prinsesa airport. Just a tip,as much as possible book an earlier flight ( i mean an am flight) so you can still go somewhere else. But since we were after promo fare we didnt have any choice..:(

PP airport

I have a friend who manages a travel agency and we were able to get a good deal for a 4n/3d tour including accomodation, meals ( breakfast and lunch), underground, Honday bay and city tours    http://www.facebook.com/pages/Tourspot-Travel/203318219726850. As we arrived at the airport, there was a van already waiting and brought us directly to RAQ Pensionne (www.raqpensionne.com ).The hotel is at least 10-15 minutes from the airport and just beside Legend Palawan.

We were greeted with a welcome drink together with a souvenir (a rain maker ).Ohh!what a generous way to welcome visitors! We occupied 2 rooms ( quad and triple sharing ) since we are 7 in the group. The room was simple and old but it is clean and spacious with a t.v, aircon, hot water, telephone in case you need something from them. My only complain with our room was the aircon, it is not so cold but there is an electric fan provided (pde na rin!!).The pensionne has no elevator so we had to take the stairs going to the 3rd floor. One more thing the shower is not that strong,so be patient...But the good thing about this place is they have tables and chairs just outside our rooms where we used it for chatting and playing cards. It also provided a water dispenser placed along the hallway and its for FREE!! The place faces the main road so you can see cars and trikes passing.Scroll down so you can tour the whole place.By the way this place has a spa and a small bar at the side.

Right after we unpacked up our things,we asked the receptionist where is Kinabuch Grill and Restaurant. In fairness to me, I already did some research where is the best place to dine in this city and this restaurant is one of the most recommended place. The restaurant is just 5 - 10 minutes away and you can ride a tricycle from our place, the fare is only P10.00 each. The place is spacious and consists of several nipa huts. Upon entering the place there is a wide lcd screen.

There were so many people and we were just lucky enough that we got a seat right away. I like the way they handle their customers and in fact the one who took our orders was so accommodating and joked with us once in a while. The serving of food took about 10 -15 minutes. We tried grilled tuna panga,CROC sisig ( wohhhh!! ) , bulalo and gising gising. At first we were hesitant to order the CROC sisig because we were a little worried of the taste. But, if you will not be told that it is croc meat, you cant tell it because it tasted just like pork sisig.I also love the gising - gising (since it was spicy,i love it)..The bulalo and tuna panga is ok nothing different with its taste.Though a little pricey ( for me ), it was worth it. We spent P250.00 each.

After our dinner, I asked them if we could visit the Baywalk since I have read from a blog that is best to see this place in the evening. We rode a tricycle again and had to passed by RAQ in going there. The fare P10.00 each also. We were a little bit disappointed because there was nothing much to see except the well -lighted peacock. There were a few people hanging out with their families and friends. We had a short distance walk and asked Manong driver to take us back to the hotel.

We did not go around the city anymore since we were advised by the receptionist that we will be fetch 6am the following day...Good night for now!!
